Thank you for using Blitz Latin, by far the finest machine translator for Latin anywhere in the world.

GETTING STARTED:
[Note: you must have one of the versions of WinZip (trademark acknowledged) installed on your computer in order to open the Blitz Latin .zip file. WinZip can be found widely and easily on the Internet.
Home site: https://www.winzip.com.]

1. Create a folder on your C:\ drive called 'BlitzLatin' (without the quotes). Thus you now have a new, empty folder called C:\BlitzLatin.

2. Copy the 'Blitz230APublicPackage.zip' to your new folder (C:\BlitzLatin).

3. Unzip Blitz230APublicPackage.zip in your new folder, by double-clicking on file 'Blitz230APublicPackage.zip'. This will give you all the files you need in this folder.

4. Right-click once on the executable file 'Blitz2.exe'. Then left-click on 'Blitz2.exe - Shortcut' from the list of options. This menu item will appear next to file 'Blitz2.exe'.
Drag the 'Blitz2.exe - Shortcut' from its present location (in folder C:\BlitzLatin) to the Desktop.
Every time you need to run Blitz Latin, just left-click on the icon 'Blitz2.exe - Shortcut'.

5. If you are using the latest version of Microsoft Windows-10 (or a version of Windows-11) it is likely that you will need to grant Windows permission to open the help file 'Blitz2.chm'. In the folder you have just created:
Right click on your blitz2.chm file and select "Properties" on the popup menu.
On the "General" tab, click the "Unblock" button (or checkbox).
    Then click "OK".
(If you do not do this, the 'Help' menu item will not function.)

6. Now RUN Blitz Latin from its desktop icon. When it has finished loading, click on menu item 'FILE, OPEN' and select wordfile.txt. This provides a test text file for Latin translation. You should see the Latin sentences and their translations in alternating sentences. Other options exist, see Blitz2_Manual.pdf described below:

Enclosed are three further files.
1. 'Blitz2_Manual.pdf':
Contains the full manual for Blitz Latin. You should certainly print-out and read the first 18 pages, which contain key instructions and an example translation.

2. Latin_Standard_Phrases_Manual.pdf:
This is a short introduction to the use of Latin Standard Phrases (LSPs) with Blitz Latin. It provides further details of how to install LSPs, and how to use them.

3. 'Translation of Medieval and NeoLatin texts.txt':
This third file gives hints on how best to use Blitz Latin for those wishing to translate Medieval or NeoLatin texts.

Best of luck with your translations!

John White, programmer of Blitz Latin.
